The History of Datamology

Roots
I have worked in data processing since 1985 including each of the following aspects of that field:

• Data management
• OLTP (transaction processing) applications
• Data reporting
• Data warehousing
• OLAP (analytical processing) applications

Founding
The Datamology Company, a multi-member LLC operating in California, was founded on January 1, 2003, by myself and two long-time friends and colleagues. It was formed as a small employee-owned software company with the goal of developing VisiCube into a complete data analysis tool for the academic research community. VisiCube had previously been developed and distributed by my new partners under The Janina Ratkowska Group. It's design was based, in part, on recommendations I had made to them a few years earlier in an advisory capacity. The existing form of VisiCube is a result of those efforts.

Now
Upon the retirement of my partners in May, 2004, I began to run Datamology by myself (first as a single-member LLC and then as a sole proprietorship (which it is today). VisiCube continues to be available through Datamology and I may develop more products in the future. But my focus has now turned to consulting services in the areas in which I have the most expertise.
